Introduction to clay as a fine art medium with main emphasis on historical and contemporary ceramics and art as sources of inspiration. Basic process of hand building, surface treatments, kiln firing, and wheel-throwing basics. Critiques, readings, lectures, tests on ceramic terminology and safety. Some writing required. Sketchbook, textbook.
