PSY433 - Decisions and the Brain
Course Description
This course aims to provide an introduction to the exciting new field of Neuroeconomics - the study of how our brains make economic decisions. Topics will include how our brains respond to risk and ambiguity, how we learn and assign value to different options, how we trade-off the benefits of immediate and delayed rewards and what happens when we play simple economic games. This course will also give an overview of the experimental and theoretical techniques used in Neuroeconomic research including neuroimaging, neurophysiology, reinforcement learning and prospect theory. At the end students should be able to read the Neuroeconomic literature with a confident and critical eye.
