Course Description
This class is an accelerated introduction to documentary filmmaking for students from all majors, AND an opportunity to engage with immigration and refugee issues in Tucson by making short films, and working with students in the English Language Learning (ELL) program at Mansfeld Middle School. Drawing on their diverse academic backgrounds and research interests, students will gain camera, sound and editing skills, and learn how to represent their observations, experiences and point of view through a series of short creative non-fiction exercises, culminating in a short documentary exploring some facet of the immigrant and refugee communities in Tucson.
