Course Description
CALS 197B is the first in a two-course sequence that is part of the College of Life Sciences and Architecture Arizona's Science, Engineering, and Math Scholars Program (CALS ASEMS). The purpose of the CALS ASEMS program is to support CALS STEM students in successfully completing STEM degrees with a strong GPA. This first course is focused on academic support, including: successful student habits and learning strategies; career exploration; interacting with faculty; and utilizing campus resources. Students will also meet with peer mentors weekly to gain insight into career planning, the STEM professional culture, and building a sense of belonging in STEM.
