PHP210 - Diversity, Health and Wellbeing in Later Life
Course Description
Do culturally diverse groups experience aging differently?
Heterogeneity is a hallmark of the older adult population, which continues to grow more diverse - by race and ethnicity, as well as other key factors including gender, religion, social class, sexual orientation and identity, rural-urban community location. In this course, using an interdisciplinary approach, we explore these elements of diversity, how they work alone and intersect along the life course to shape the individual and group experience of older adults. We also explore the complexities of the pluralistic aging society which results, and the challenges and opportunities which it presents, for promoting health and wellbeing in later life.
