TLS444 - Designing Instruction for Online and Hybrid Teaching Environments
Course Description
Instructional delivery models allowing instructors of multiple content areas including science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) to plan hybrid courses on a spectrum from fully online to face-to-face (F2F) will be explored. Using theories of learning, multimedia, and instructional design students will analyze remote learning challenges faced in K-12, homeschooling, higher-education, non-profit, private, and government. Learning management systems (LMS), remote content delivery tools, creative media, connected and unconnected low-tech alternatives, resource disparity, multisubject delivery challenges, and remote learner support will be examined within socio-culturally diverse contexts. Using an LMS students will create a working instructional delivery model that can be repurposed between F2F and remote delivery as needed, and that encapsulates the elements of this course.
