Course Description

This course provides an introduction to the creative use of computer technology in the live and immersive arts. Students will learn and apply code for microprocessor programming, computational visualizations, sensor-based interactivity, and physical computing within the context of the visual arts. Projects will be conceptually based, combining traditional art forms with digital fabrication, mechanical and electrical design and robotics. Skills acquired in this course will provide an important foundation for the production of kinetic and reactive artworks as well as supporting utilities. This studio-based course will consist of instructional lectures, hands-on artistic production, and critical discussion.
