Course Description

Humans desire connection, but desire is not sufficient to the development of healthy intimacy and sexual communications. Talking about sex and intimacy is not easy, and this course can give you an idea of how talking about sex can achieve multiple goals. This skills-based course is designed to teach specific communication theories and evidence-based research to integrate and build self-awareness and skills development for strong intimate relationships and healthy sexual communications. Intimate relationships are integral to our wellbeing and strong communication skills are vital to their development. Essential areas for encoding and decoding communications include: empathy, boundaries, consent, negotiation, repair, feedback, power, and trust/vulnerability. Cornerstones for building intimacy with others requires the intrapersonal skills of embodiment, attunement, and resilience. This course will connect the dots between different attachment styles and sexual dimensions to deep dive into communication skills, styles and approaches for developing intimacy and sexual communication.
