Program Description
The Graduate Certificate in Medical Anthropology provides advanced training in Medical Anthropology for University of Arizona graduate students, as well as for health science professionals and social scientists from universities that do not offer specialized training in Medical Anthropology. UA Anthropology graduate students may not participate in the certificate program.
The Graduate Certificate in Medical Anthropology requires the completion of 12 credit hours. These include 9 units earned in coursework (see course list and conditions below) and a three-credit research project resulting in a publishable paper or defendable grant proposal. The certificate is a variable schedule program that can be completed in two to four years.
